This post releases a digital scan of the work “Badar Pattu” by Mahakavi Moyinkutty Vaidyar. This work is a poem that narrates the Battle of Badr. For a brief note about Moyinkutty Vaidyar, please see this page on the website of the Mapila Kala Akademi. (The current article on Moyinkutty Vaidyar in the Malayalam Wikipedia needs to be rewritten to the standards of an encyclopedia.)
Printed and published in the Arabic-Malayalam script, this work is one of the most famous works of Moyinkutty Vaidyar. The name of the lithographer is recorded in the book as the copyist. The lithographer plays an important role in stone printing. Due to the fact that the arrangement of the lines is not in a straight line in many places due to it being lithographic writing, and due to other printing and binding problems, and also due to my inability to read the Arabic script, the digitization of this was extremely difficult.
This document has been digitized as part of a project to digitize and preserve Arabic-Malayalam documents. You can find more information about that project here.
